Sportsgirl collared tunic shirt;  Forever New black suedette leggings;  ASOS khaki anorak;  Steve Madden black leather over-the-knee boots;  Alexander Wang Rocco;

On Sunday morning the boy dragged me out of bed with the promise of breakfast at our favourite cafe - it didn't take much else to get me going after that.  Afterwards, while very full and satisfied, we quickly took some photos in the alleyway behind the cafe.

I nearly forgot I owned these boots, I bought them when I was in the US two years ago and lived in them in every winter since then, but they haven't gotten any love so far this season.  I'll have to remember to wear them more, they're so comfy, and so warm!

This is the kind of outfit that happens when I have one particular item I want to wear, and only about 10 minutes to get ready.  My thought process went something like 'I want to wear these boots...and they'd go with leggings...and this top goes with leggings because it's long...oh and it's probably cold, so I'll throw on the jacket I wore last night'.  And it all kind of gets thrown together.  I usually think of outfits as a whole, which is pretty limiting, as I don't consider myself very good at mixing and matching things.  I should try and do it this way more often.

How do you think of outfits?

  2. I think the thrown together work really works for you :-)

    I think I put outfits together in a similar way, just a little more planned if I actually want to wear one particular item. Otherwise, it's...hmmm tomorrow I want to wear a dress. It's cold, which ones are clean that match stockings?...

  7. Hahaha! Thats exactly how I think of outfits too! Love the way this has come together, and I will remember it because I have identical things in my wardrobe and I've never thought to wear them like this. Love it! I also re-discovered my OTK boots. Theyre the best things. Comfort, style and warmth all in one x

  14. I try to mix and match a lot. Hence the constant Polyvore boards on my blog. I am not good at it naturally but I do think it is a skill that can be learned :)

    I think this outfit is great - you look lovely and it looks chic and effortlessly thrown together (the good kind of tt).

  17. Love the anorak and the boots! It's so hard to find a nice pair of over the knee boots that don't look, for lack of better words, promiscuous (haha). These are perfect ... you should definitely wear them more! xx

  19. Aw man, I wish that I could throw together great outfits like this! When I throw together an outfit, I'm usually dissatisfied with it and spend the day thinking about what would've been perfect instead. Hmm but now I feel like being a bit more experimental next time I open my wardrobe - thanks lovely xx

  20. Lately I've been lazy and wearing the same things in circles. You are inspiring me to play dress ups to find new favourite things.
