Maybelline Color Sensational lipstick in 'Are You Red-dy'

Wow, thanks for all the compliments guys!  I'm loving my new hair and coming up with different ways to style it, can't wait to share!

Unfortunately I have a couple of outfit posts that I took before I cut my hair, so the next few posts will have to feature my old hair :(  It's funny, I don't miss my hair at all looking at these photos, I just think 'ugh it looks terrible!'

I love this dress from Sportsgirl, the colour is so bright and saturated, and I love how the skirt moves when I walk.  It's quite short, so I have to be quite careful in not bending over at all in it, lest I flash some poor unsuspecting person.  And as always, these wedges are the perfect accompaniment to any summer dress.

I still can't really believe I've cut off all my hair.  I've had long hair since I was 15, and was way more emotionally attached to it than I should be.  Long hair was 'me', and if I didn't have long hair who would I be?  I got a terrible haircut on the day of my year 12 formal, and it almost ruined the night and scarred me for life!  I think I shied away from ever getting it cut after that.

I know all of that was ridiculous, and when my hair started annoying the hell out of me, becoming hugely high maintenance,  and generally looking pretty scraggly, I knew it was time for me to let go of it.  I think of it as another way I'm decluttering my life, getting rid of the excess hair I don't need.

I still feel a bit of panic when I look in the mirror or brush my hair, and think 'where is the rest of it??', but I really like it, and I like having something completely different from any hairstyle I've had before.  It's so healthy and thick, with all the old layers and split ends gone.  I'm really looking forward to playing around with different ways to wear it.

australia day 2012

Happy Australia Day!  I hope you all had an awesome day!  Our Australia Day consisted of Hottest 100 at the pub with Elyse and some other friends, then back at a friends place for a few more drinks while we listened to the end of the countdown.  It was a very multicultural day, in true Australia Day spirit, with yum cha lunch at the pub, margaritas + corn chips in the afternoon, and pizza for dinner.  A few too much food and drinks were consumed, but it was a great day regardless!

What did everyone else get up to?

Every so often I go through my wardrobe (usually when I've bought new things and can't find a spare hanger for them...) and pull out things I haven't worn in a while or that I've gotten sick of.  I eBay regularly, but usually only 3-4 things at a time.  Over the past week or so I've felt a dramatic shift in my attitude towards my wardrobe, I'm starting to get sick of the poorer quality items, the black pants that are fading and have the button falling off, the t-shirts that are pilling and are just not quite the right shape, and the masses of fast-fashion items I've bought on a whim and gotten sick of after one wear.

I started desiring a much more streamlined wardrobe, with better quality staples, with things that mixed and matched perfectly with each other, that I would still find myself wearing after several years.  After reading the Culling Your Wardrobe thread on the Vogue Forums, I became so inspired to pull every single item I owned out of the wardrobe (which, by the way, is only full of my stuff - my poor boyfriend has a little set of drawers in the study as I have too much crap), and go through it one by one.

I got rid of old t-shirts, dresses I no longer wear, things which needed repairing but that I never got around to, shoes that have Lolly teethmarks in them (there were quite a few, she likes leather), frilly blouses that I used to wear to work but that are no longer my style, and I got rid of it all.  I filled 3 garbage bags to donate and amassed a pile that, after counting it all yesterday, added up to 48 items to list on eBay.

I cleared 2 full drawers in my wardrobe and cleared room for my pajamas (which used to live under the bed or strewn around the bedroom), and all my underwear, which, embarrassingly, had to live in a desk drawer in the study.  I can now move the hangers around in the wardrobe and I don't feel like I'm rifling through crap to get to the clothes I like, because it's all the clothes I like.

I also decided to tackle my shambles of a makeup box, and get rid of tons of lipglosses I never use, old mascara tubes, samples, and anything else I didn't use on a regular basis, and organised it all neatly so that I can see what I have.  It's so much easier to do my makeup of a morning now that I don't have to dig through it all to find the 5-6 products I actually use.

I feel so cleansed now, I feel like I'm finally getting back to a manageable wardrobe.  Now I just have to find the perfect t-shirt, the perfect skinny black pants, and the perfect leather boots.  Stay tuned!

If anyone is interested in my eBay items, there is a widget on the right sidebar with links, or you can find my seller ID here.

Sportsgirl black silk tee (similar here);  Forever New paperbag scalloped shorts;  Wittner leopard print ponyhair loafers;  House of Harlow double starburst necklace;  Mulberry black oversized Alexa;  Michael Kors rose gold chronograph watch;  Hermes clic clac;

This was yesterday's casual Friday outfit.  The shorts were maybe a bit too short for the office, but oh well.  Luckily my colleagues are pretty laid-back.  They're so comfortable too, it's almost like wearing pajama shorts.

In exciting news - the boy and I booked a trip to Thailand in August for 11 days.  I'm so excited, I haven't been overseas since the US in 2010 so I'm wayyyy overdue!  If anyone has any recommendations for what to do/where to shop/where to eat in Phuket and Bangkok let me know!

this week (via instagram)

1.  China Glaze Sky High Tops.
2.  New lipstick - MAC Insanely It.  One can never have too many hot pink lipsticks.
3.  Eating brunch on the beach at Moo Burgers at Bondi.
4.  Dessert from Twisted Frozen Yoghurt.  This started my obsession with frozen yoghurt, and I'll admit that I'm nearly through my second tub after buying some from Harris Farm.
5.  Ulta3 Fruit Tingle.  I've been looking for this one forever!  Love a good neon polish, especially one that is $2.
6.  Sort-of outfit post (full pics of this outfit to come).
7.  Another sort-of outfit post.
8.  Lolly sitting at the table after we'd finished dinner.  I'd like to think she expected her dinner to be served there too.
9.  Cosmos my boyfriend made.  He doesn't drink cocktails, but he loves making them.  And I love drinking them.  Perfect arrangement.
10.  Monday mornings usually consist of a plain black dress, statement necklace, and a bun.  Because I don't function too well of a morning, particularly Monday mornings.
11.  Instagrammed pic of my last outfit post.
12.  Curling my hair the other night while eating aforementioned frozen yoghurt.
13.  Yesterday's mani, OPI Rumples Wiggin with China Glaze Snow Globe over the top.
14.  Demonstrating just how ridiculously long and in need of a cut my hair is.

Mink Pink 'Phoenix' aztec print dress;  Ray Ban wayfarer sunglasses;  Tony Bianco 'Norman' black suede wedges;  Mulberry black oversized Alexa;  Michael Kors rose gold chronograph watch;
China Glaze Poinsettia nail polish;

I'd never been a fan of aztec-style prints, but when browsing Market HQ one day, this dress jumped out at me, and before I knew it, I was clicking 'add to cart', and the next day it was on my doorstep.  The yellow colour is even a gamble for me, after 13 years of yellow school shirts I'd never gone near the colour again, but I love the mustard tones in this dress.

Clearly I have a thing for cut-out backs as well, as it was this that sealed the deal for me.

I wore this outfit last weekend for a long lazy brunch on Bondi Beach with the boy and our friends, and on the way home we stumbled across this alleyway, which was perfect for some very quick outfit shots.
